4. Treasurer’s report
In the Treasurer’s report, KM advised that the society had gone from making a profit in 2023
to making a deficit of £431, due in part to investment in the laptop, camera and related
equipment, an increase in demonstrator costs, and a disappointing number of sales at the
annual exhibition. It was proposed and agreed unanimously to increase annual subscriptions
to £40pp and remove the attendance fees for members, and to increase visitor fees to £10, but
continue to allow one free taster visit.

6. Any Other Business
JB advised that he will not be organising a calendar of paintings for 2026.
KW asked for members’ ideas to improve the annual exhibition:
a) Coincide with another event in the village – at the school, Knife & Cleaver,
church etc;
b) Investigate pop-up opportunities in Bedford and at the John Bunyan centre;
c) Move location to Ampthill, coinciding with the annual open gardens, or an
open day at Kings Arms garden;
d) Have a stand at an existing event eg in Flitwick;
e) Newer members now feel more confident to exhibit their work;
f) Ensure ‘Free Entry’ is clearly displayed to attract passers-by;
g) Use card corners to number paintings instead of stickers;
JB asked members to look out for display sites for existing Big Paints. MM said
that the village hall committee were making space on the walls either side of the
stage.

Meeting closed at 8:25pm.
