Houghton Conquest Art Society was founded in 1995 by 8 local villagers and over the years expanded to its present membership. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of the month between 7pm and 9pm in Houghton Conquest Village Hall with a summer break in August and outdoor sessions in July.

The Society produces an extensive yearly programme of demonstrations and guided sessions featuring art techniques ranging from pastels, watercolour, pen & ink, pencil, clay modelling, acrylic paint, acrylic inks, paper making, lino printing, calligraphy, speed sketching, portraits, plaster cast painting and printing using our own printing press.

Each year we hold an Art Exhibition where members' work is put on display. Keep an eye on the website for further details.

We welcome new members....From 1 January 2025, fees will be:

a)     Adult membership £40

b)     Student membership £20

Our Saturday Workshops are more extensive than our evening meetings, usually from 10 am until 4pm, with a guest demonstrator.  All workshops are open to non members if spaces are available.

During mid-summer we enjoy outdoor painting sessions to capture the vibrancy that daylight brings to a painting and in previous years we sketched from a boat on the River Ouse.   Another highlight is our "Take One Picture" event where members create their own piece of art from one picture. See the Take One Picture page on the website for examples.
